Gaza – Ma’an – A Hamas member has been killed on Sunday and 8 others injured when the Hamas-Fatah armed clashes broke out anew in the Gaza Strip.

Medical sources announced the death of 22 year old Omar Sharab, affiliated with Hamas in Khan Younis, in the Gaza Strip. They also told Ma’an that more than 8 other citizens were injured in the confrontations in Khan Younis.

The death toll in Khan Younis for Sunday evening subsequently rose to two, after a bystander during the clashes, Ala’ Ulayyan, was killed.

Hamas blamed the responsibility for the abduction of the prominent leader within the Hamas-affiliated Al-Qassam Brigades, Ashraf Farawnah and two of his escorts on Fatah, while Fatah accused Hamas of kidnapping Al-Aqsa Brigades’ activist Abus-Salam Qassas and his escort.

In the Shuja’iyya neighborhood, in the Gaza Strip, a police officer was injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire at the police station.

In a separate incident, eyewitnesses stated that an explosion rocked the headquarters of Fatah movement in Beit Hanoun causing material damage.

In the southern occupied Palestinian West Bank city of Hebron, Raed Hamdan Sharabaty, aged 35, survived an assassination attempt while he was getting out of his car at the As-Salam street near his home. Sharabaty told Ma’an’s correspondent that “a Fiat Uno approached and four gunmen pulled their guns and started shooting in my direction, but as I saw their guns, I got down and the bullets hit my car and I survived by a miracle.” Sharabaty who is an employee at the Hebron-based Muslim Youth Society accused no one in particular of the assassination attempt.
